9th Essex - Officers to embark for France 1915

In May 1915 the 9th Essex  embarked for France.
30 officers, one warrant officer, 53 sergeants, 39 corporals and 812 privates were embarked.

They were preceded by the transport unit consisting of 74 horses, 24 vehicles and 104 rank and file.

Officers in the transport unit were Major Constable, Lt Bearblock and Lt Upton.
