1st Essex Volunteer Artillery No 3 Company Weekly Orders 1900

Weekly orders were issued by the volunteer companies for their members.

The orders help us to build a picture of their operation and requirements.

Below is the weekly order for week starting 30 July 1900 by No 3 Company at Grays

1. Drills for the ensuing week will take place as follows:

Monday, Company drill under arms: bayonets and pouches.

Wednesday, Recruits drill

Thursday, Gun drill etc

Time of parades 7.30pm

2. Carbines - All carbines will be re-issued to the Company on Monday 30 inst.

All members must clearly understand that they must draw their carbines by Thursday, 2nd August 1900

3. Recruits are urgently required for the Company:

Height five feet six inches: Chest 33 inches: age 17 to 45 years:

Uniform provided by the Corps:No entrance fee.

Application can be made at 7, Quarry Hill, Grays.

4. Non Commissioned officer on duty for ensuing week. Company Sergeant Major G L Dowie.
