Oakwood VAD Hospital Chigwell

Oakwood Hospital at Chigwell opened in March 1915 with 6 patients suffering from frostbite.

Mrs Frances Cooke, Matron of Oakwood Hospiital for the previous 2 1/2 years was presented with the Royal Red Cross Medal at Buckingham Palace by the King.
